Android phone architecture is based on ARM and ARM64 models. It is hard to figure out the correct architecture for the APK you want to download on your phone or the firmware you have to flash. Now, every APK file comes with a branded architecture version, and each APK file can only be used for that architecture and its dependents. Basically, these are keywords representing the internal processor and the operating system running on it. The ARM is for devices running on 32-bit ARM processors and operating systems. At the same time, ARM64 is for devices running on a 64-bit operating system.

As we are discovering new worlds in the technology world. We are progressing towards better and more efficient machines. Each new device and its operating system are more efficient and faster than the previous one. The processor is more time and space-efficient.

When you go to some site to download apps in APK files, you must have come across the warning that this APK is for a specific operating system architecture like ARM or ARM 64. So when you download from Google Play Store, it automatically identifies the correct architecture for your Android phone and then downloads the app on your phone for that Architecture and operating system.

When you have to select an APK from many versions, sometimes it’s hard to figure out which architecture your phone is based on. So today, I will help you identify the correct architecture for APK files so that you won’t be confused next time you download an APK file.

This information will tell you whether your phone is using a 32-bit or 64-bit architecture. The architecture information is important because it will determine which version of the APK you need to download. Most modern Android phones use 64-bit architecture, but some older models may still use 32-bit.

armeabi-v7a is the same as ARM.

The ARM64, aka x64 architecture, is backwards compatible, so it’s OK to install ARM, or 32-bit apps, on ARM64.

  • ARM on ARM device: OK.
  • ARM64 on arm device: Not compatible.
  • ARM on ARM64 device: OK.
  • ARM64 on ARM64 device: OK.

If your Android phone is not mentioned in the table above, you can use an app named Droid Hardware Info to identify the correct architecture of your phone and select the respective APK to download on your phone.

This app lets you see your phone’s details and identify your device’s correct architecture. Install the app and tap on the device information. You can also see your phone’s DPI using this app. Some APK files of an app are for specific DPIs. If you download an app for a particular DPI, your phone will take less space than the Nodpi app. It is a great app to keep an eye on everything going on inside your phone.
