And as the screen is not working, you won’t be able to enter the PIN code. So we are stuck here. Now let’s move on to the guide on how to recover data from a broken Galaxy S7.
Recover Photos, contacts, and Notes from a Broken Galaxy S7:
First, if you were using Google Photos on your Galaxy S7 instead of the stock library app. Then, you can visit the Google Photos website. Log in using the same email address you used to set up your Galaxy S7 and access all the pictures and videos uploaded to the cloud.
The same applies to notes and contacts. Suppose your Gmail account was synced with all your devices. All your contacts can be accessed by opening a Gmail account on another device. At the top left of the Gmail screen, under the text “Google,” you will see “Gmail.” Click on it and select contacts.

The method mentioned below will allow you to unlock your Samsung Galaxy S7 remotely. Using a Samsung service named Find My Mobile. You can unlock your phone from the web. The only condition is that you must have logged in to your Samsung account on that phone, which is now broken. Or, when you first used your Galaxy S7 or played a game, you created a Samsung account for the game center. Suppose you have ever made a Samsung account and used it on your Galaxy S7 Edge. Today, you might be getting the reward in the form of accessing and retrieving the data stored inside the broken phone. This service is not available on older Samsung phones. Now I will describe how you can use this service to recover a broken Galaxy S7.
TIP: Wise people learn lessons from mistakes. From now on, ensure you always have a backup of your phone’s data on some cloud service or your computer. Accidents never ask before coming. So precautionary measures are always better than regrets.
Note: To use this service, you must have Remote controls enabled on your phone.
- Now, first of all. You must sign in to the Find My Mobile service using your Samsung account username and password. If you don’t remember your email or password, click the’ Find Email or Password’ option.
- Once you have logged in to find my mobile service, you will see several benefits you can use remotely. It also includes “Unlock Screen Remotely or Remotely Unlock my Phone.”
- Click on it, and your phone will get unlocked.
- Now, connect your phone to your laptop or PC using a data cable and copy the data from the broken Galaxy S7 to your PC. Another option is to download and install Smart Switch on your PC. Using it, you can copy your contacts, pictures, messages, and all other stuff to your PC or directly to your new phone. Once your phone is remotely unlocked, you can use KIES to access its data.

This doesn’t work unless you have previously allowed USB File Transfer. And if you’re in my situation where the screen does not work, then you can’t tell your phone to allow USB File Transfer and you’ve wasted your time downloading smartswitch or anything else like it.
If you don’t try this, I think there is no way to get your data once again.
The method above won’t actually work since Samsung Galaxy S7 (Edge) will ask to be used as USB device through the drop menu which cannot be accessed while the phone is connected to PC unless you are able to magically connect a keyboard and mouse to it. In addition Samsung Galaxy S7 series does not support KIES. The screen is possible to unlock also using OTG keyboard and/or mouse but the tips above won’t help unless the OTG device and USB connection can be used simultaneously. I was able to copy my files thanks to images online of the menus showing the steps required for allowing the USB connection and getting them correct on black screen. Thankfully the touch screen was working. However, Smart Switch was useless since it still required some settings from the phone screen after getting the connection to work. Not cool Samsung, not cool.
With the due respect, but all the posts about how to access your data from a broken screen cell phone do not work. This one, for example, forget that the phone will ask authorization on the screen!!!

So has anyone found a way to get past the USB issue?
Using MHL converter you can project display of your Broken Galaxy S7 on your TV. The converter also allows you to connect USB mouse with your phone. You can project display of your phone on TV and use mouse to unlock your phone and then you can upload all the data to the cloud or move it to external storage.
Note: Before getting a MHL converter make sure Galaxy S7 supports it. As I am not sure about it.

Hi, I have broken my samsung s7 and the screen is completely black. I haven’t used Google sync or find my mobile. Is there any other way to get into the phone to back it up as due to it being locked I can’t access anything via my computer due to this.
Another way to retrieve data on your Broken Samsung Galaxy S7 is to get it screen changed and retrieve the data.
Know that, changing screen will only work if motherboard of your phone is working. If your phone gets on but its not displaying anything then you are good to go for screen change.
Helping Hint: i remotely unlock broke phone from new phone( if screens out but powers on) back up files through find my phone to cloud, go to new phone and restore from said cloud you just remotely backed your broke phone up to an wala you have your stuff.
