How to Clear Cache Partition on Pixel Phone

Clear Cache Partition Google Pixel

The new Google Pixel Phones don’t have “Clear Cache Partition” in the Android recovery menu. Which is a handful of options when it comes to troubleshooting many issues with Android smartphones. Be it a random app misbehaving or slowing down of the operating system. With advancements in software management and optimization, Google may have found that the need for manual cache partition clearing has diminished. Android’s system might handle cache management more efficiently on its own, making manual interventions less necessary. However, if you are still looking for ways to clear cache partition on Pixel phones, proceed with this guide.

Clear Cache Partition on Pixel:

Now that the option to clear the cache from the recovery menu is no longer available, you’ll need to manually clear the cache of individual apps. This involves identifying which app might be causing issues throughout the system and then clearing its cache.

Use Safe mode to Identify the culprit app:

Booting your Pixel 6 into Safe mode disables all third-party apps, which can help you identify if one of them is causing issues. To boot into Safe mode, press and hold the power button, then tap and hold the “Power off” option until “Safe mode” appears.

It’s important to note that clearing the cache of individual apps won’t delete any data on your phone; it simply removes cached data. This cache is created so your phone can quickly access data without reloading it from the server, improving app performance. However, this cached data can sometimes cause problems, leading to unusual app behaviour. Clearing the cache allows the apps to function correctly again.

Regularly clearing the cache of apps is beneficial for your phone’s overall performance and health, as it helps keep processes and apps running smoothly. Additionally, clearing an app’s cache won’t erase any user data. For example, clearing the cache of apps like Photos or WhatsApp won’t delete your pictures or messages.

To clear the cache of individual apps on your Pixel phone, follow these steps:

  1.  Open Settings on your Pixel Phone.
  2. Navigate to Storage.
  3. Select Other Apps.
  4. You’ll see a list of apps installed on your phone along with the space they occupy in your phone’s storage.
  5. Choose the app for which you want to clear the cache.
  6. You’ll be presented with two options: Clear Cache and Clear Storage.
  7. Tap on Clear Cache.

If the app still isn’t functioning correctly after clearing the cache, try tapping on “Clear Storage” as well. This action will delete the app data, essentially resetting the storage for that specific app, such as Facebook. You’ll need to log in again when you next open the app.

With the introduction of Android 12, which is available on most pixel phones, the software and operating system maintenance is primarily handled by the device itself. As a result, it’s uncommon for your phone’s software to exhibit erratic behaviour. Android is renowned for its robustness and efficiency, with features like garbage collection ensuring smooth operation by periodically clearing out old system cache. Additionally, regular monthly security updates help keep your phone secure and functioning optimally, relieving you of the need to micromanage its performance. Google consistently ensures the reliability of its software and operating system.

Factory Reset to Fix Issues:

If none of those above methods resolves the issue, you can resort to a Factory Reset. This will erase all data on your phone, restoring it to its original state as when you first unboxed it.

  1. Ensure all your data is backed up beforehand. You can do this by accessing Settings -> System -> Backup, where you can verify that your Pixel is linked to your Gmail account and that all necessary data is being backed up.
  2. To perform a Factory Reset, navigate to Settings -> System -> Reset Options -> Erase All Data (Factory Reset).

This process will reset your phone, and once completed, all your data, including call logs, contacts, messages, and WiFi passwords, will be restored. With data securely backed up in the cloud, the Factory Reset process is streamlined and typically takes less than 5 minutes to complete. If clearing the cache fails to resolve the issue, a Factory Reset is recommended to address any persistent problems with your Pixel phone.
