Following are some prerequisites that you will need to download and install on your Windows PC to continue:
- Download Samsung Drivers for Windows. (The link to download the file is under the main heading). However, these drivers are to be installed on your PC. They are essential for your PC to recognize your device correctly.
- From here, download Odin for Windows.
- Download the Official Stock ROM for Samsung Galaxy J2 from Sammobile.
- Enable USB debugging on your phone;
- Settings-> Select About Phone -> Locate Build number and tap it seven times.
- Return to the settings page and locate Developers Options -> Activate OEM and Enable USB debugging.
- Charging of your phone should be more than 40%.
- While using ODIN, ensure KIES is off and not running in the background. (Uninstall it)
Download and install the Samsung driver and ODIN on your Windows PC. Then, go to the Sammobile link above. Enter your phone model and download the firmware according to your carrier or country. After downloading the ROM, if it is in a zip file, extract the contents in some folder.
Make sure you download the correct ROM for your phone. If your phone is carrier unlocked, download and flash any unbranded stock ROM from the link above. But if your phone has a branded page (e.g., Verizon, T-Mobile). Then, you should download the branded ROM for your carrier. Then, you can flash any unbranded ROM on your carrier-free Samsung Galaxy J2. But I would recommend you get the matching ROM for your phone. Once you finish the prerequisites, you will need your Windows PC, phone, and a data cable to perform the following guide to flash stock firmware on Galaxy J2.
- First of all, install ODIN on your Windows PC.
- Now install Samsung USB drivers for Windows on your PC.
- After that, turn off your Samsung Galaxy J2.
- Get your phone in Download Mode:
- When your phone is turned off.
- Press and hold Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button simultaneously.
- When you see a warning, release the button and press the Volume up button to continue.
- The next step is to open ODIN on your Windows PC.
- Connect your Samsung Galaxy J2 to your PC. After connecting the phone, if the ODIN detects your phone ID, the COM section will turn blue. (If there isn’t any change, your phone is undetected. Mostly, the problem is in the USB cable or the drivers are not correctly installed).

- Browse the extracted file and select the firmware file with .tar or .tar.md5 extension.
- Ensure only Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time are checked in Odin’s options tab.
- When all is done, click Start and give it time to flash stock firmware on the Samsung Galaxy J2.
- After the flashing is successful, your phone will reboot and have stock ROM. It won’t stuck at bootloop, and it will be new as it was when you took it out of its packing. It will be unrooted as well.
Note:Â If the firmware you downloaded extracts more than one file, then select the corresponding section according to file type belonging to Bootloader, AP belongs to PDA, CP belongs to Phone(Modem), and select the CSC file in the CSC tab.
- If the flashing is unsuccessful, try with some other version of ODIN.
