Fix Random Apps Crash on Samsung

For the last couple of weeks, many Android smartphone users, especially Samsung and Huawei, have faced issues with their phones. The apps keep crashing with an error “Gmail has Stopped” or any other app. Sometimes, the apps crash without any error. The problem of random apps crashing on Samsung phones has been reported in the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S8, Galaxy A70, and Galaxy A51. It has also been reported on Google Pixel 8 phones, where the Google app crashes.

The problem has been very annoying for Android users. It’s affecting not only Samsung users, but I have experienced it on my Google Pixel. People using Huawei phones like P30 also have reported this issue on their phones. At the same time, no one has a clue why it’s happening. A Reddit user has finally found a solution to these issues, which we will use until an update is released to fix it once and for all.

Fix Random Apps Crash on Samsung and other Android Phones:

It looks like an update of a system app is causing this issue on Android phones. So we are going to take care of it. The following solution is for Samsung, Pixel, and Huawei phones running on the latest Android operating system

  1. First of all, you need to go to the Settings menu of your Samsung phone.
  2. Now select Apps and Notifications.
  3. Click on See all apps. Now, on the top right corner, click on the three dots and select Show System Apps.
  4. Once the system apps are displayed, look for Android System Webview and tap on it.
  5. Go to Storage and clear its cache. Now go back and tap on Force Stop. You must find Uninstall Updates. It will be either in the same menu or by tapping on the three dots in the top right corner.
  6. Find the option to Uninstall updates and tap on it. You will be good to go.
  7. Do not disable the Android System Webview App.

If the Android system Webview app is already disabled, then follow the guide below.

Fix Google App Crashes on Galaxy S24 and other old Android phones:

For the old Android phones, the culprit causing apps to crash on Samsung is Google Chrome, not Android System Webview.

  1. So, in order to fix it, go to Settings and then Apps and notification.
  2. Look for Chrome. Clear its Cache, Force Stop it, and Disable it.
  3. Now, check if the apps are working fine. If everything is good. You can enable it again.
  4. Although I could not find the option to uninstall Chrome updates, you can also try that. This fixed the issue for me, and now the Galaxy S8 works fine.

I hope this guide helped you fix random app crashes on Samsung. If you have questions or if something is unclear, feel free to comment or reach out to us.

This error is caused by a minor glitch in the system. It will probably be solved in the next update. So keep an eye on Chrome and Android System Webview in the Google Play Store for new updates. Beware: Once you uninstall the updates manually, whenever you go to the Google Play Store, you will see the updates. So it’s better to wait a couple of days. Then, once the fix is released, you can update both apps.
