Instagram is one of the most famous and used social media networks, with over 2.4 Billion users worldwide. It is equally famous among the working class, celebrities, or people belonging to any social stature. It is also used by teenagers, adults, and even older people. So, its charm revolves around people of every class, age, and stature. With great power and use also come some bugs. Is your iPhone also suffering from Instagram reels getting stuck, or is the reel freezing while the audio keeps on playing in the background, or is the video restarting from the beginning? I have encountered this issue on Instagram, and we will address it today.
Since I moved to iPhone from Android, I have been having this issue; if it were an Android app, I would clear the app’s cache, and the problem would be gone for good, but for iPhone, I never came across any solution. Even once, I deleted the app and reinstalled it, thinking its cache was causing issues. The issue was annoying because you can’t even watch a video peacefully. You always have this sword hanging on your neck, so this video will get stuck or restart from the beginning. In my opinion, the issue is prevalent in long videos.
After enduring this problem for several months, I realized I was not the only one facing it. My friend also had the same problem while using Instagram on their iPhone. Finally, I decided to find a solution, leading me to the following solution. Since then, I have been at peace.
The solution to Instagram reels getting stuck while watching them on an iPhone:
I suffered from this issue on my iPhone; previously, when using Google Pixel, I never had this issue. You might have also noticed that this issue is prevalent when you are connected to the WiFi network; when you are browsing Instagram on mobile data (which is a bad idea as reels suck up mobile data like crazy), this issue never occurs.
The following guide has been updated concerning iPhones and iPads running on iOS 18
You must follow the steps below to solve this issue, and the problem will disappear. I have tried and tested this method on my iPhone.
- First of all, go to the Settings menu of your iPhone.
- Tap on WiFi.
- Tap on the (WiFi information icon) right next to the connected WiFi name.
- Here are the settings used to connect to the WiFi. Locate “Private WiFi Address”
- Change the “Private WiFi Address” to off from “rotating” or “fixed.”
- It will prompt you, “Allow this device to be tracked by WiFi networks and nearby WiFi devices when using “Name of your WiFI.”
- Tap on Allow Tracking
The issue of Instagram reels getting stuck will be done and dusted, and you can enjoy the reels in peace. If at some point, the problem reoccurs, go back to the WiFi settings, change the Private WiFi address to fixed, and deactivate it again.
Conclusion and my two cents:
Instagram has become a part of everyday life, crossing artificial regional boundaries and bringing together people worldwide. But what made it so irresistible? Was it the personalized feeds, each telling a unique story through images, videos, and captions? Or perhaps the instant gratification, with likes and comments as virtual applause?
For many, Instagram is more than just a social media platform – it is a window into a world of endless possibilities; it also serves as the everyday newspaper where people can keep up with what is happening worldwide. Everyone can be a journalist on Instagram and present ground realities without the influence of media. For some, it’s a way to express their thoughts and feelings. Others like me use it to watch funny content at the end of a busy day. Millions of people are working hard to create creative content that is adored by people worldwide. Be it funny videos, recipes, news, or knowledgeable posts. Everything can be found on Instagram. Its addictive nature lies in its ability to captivate the senses, offering a glimpse into the lives of others while simultaneously allowing users to craft their digital personas.
That is all about how to solve reels getting stuck while watching and restarting on an iPhone. Do you have any questions regarding the guide above, or do you have another solution to this problem? Please do let us know in the comments below.
