Boot Nexus 5 into Fastboot Mode

Fastboot Mode is a protocol that allows you to use various command lines. These command lines can be sent to your Nexus 5 via USB cable. Through this you will be able to flash new stock Android ROM updates, kernels, themes, custom ROMs etc. It also allows you to erase partitions or the entire system data or you can either use it to reboot the Nexus 5 in normal mode or boot in Recovery Mode. Step 1: If your Nexus 5 is connected with PC then disconnect it.
Step 2: Power off your device completely.
Step 3: Now, press and hold the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power Button at the same time.
Step 4: Keep holding the buttons until Fastboot Mode menu appears.
Step 5: Once you see the menu, your are free to connect your smartphone with your PC.
Step 6: Now launch Command Prompt so that you can use any of the following Fastboot commands

Flash
Erase
Reboot
Format.

It will be difficult to keep holding the Volume UP and Volume Down buttons at the same time. All you have to do is simply Power off your Nexus device. When it is powered down, quickly press and hold the three buttons mentioned above. If it goes wrong then don’t worry, give it a second chance.
