These days, it’s always good to check for unforeseen weather conditions before leaving for home or work. So, I have compiled a list of the top five weather apps for Android phones and tablets.
I don’t know if it’s just me or if everyone noticed that the weather this year has been unpredictable. You leave home in full bright sunlight, and suddenly, it starts raining. A few times, it happened to me that I went without an umbrella, and when I got back home, I was worried if my phone was going to survive the brutal rain. Thankfully, it survived. But then I decided to always keep a plastic bag with me leaving home when there are chances of thunderstorms or heavy rain and keep an eye on weather conditions.
Top 5 Weather Apps for Android:
I have never been fond of using weather apps, as they have never proved beneficial. I have used the stock weather app, but its predictions are mostly wrong. So, I decided to dig into weather apps and find the best app on my Android phone. I came up with a list of the top five weather apps for Android phones, which I would like to share with you guys as well.
The Weather Channel
It makes the most accurate weather predictions and has everything regarding the weather and each day’s conditions. The weather channel has an attractive and easy-to-use interface. It also alerts you if rain is expected in a few hours and gives comprehensive details of each hour along with a weather map.

WeatherBug
WeatherBug is one of the most popular weather apps in the Google Play Store. Apart from providing detailed weather reports every day, it also gives you direct access to traffic cams. So, before leaving home, you can check the weather outside your office or home in real time via traffic video. It also has spark lightning proximity alerts, which notify you about the location and distance of lightning strikes from your current location.

Yahoo Weather
Well, I love this app. Not because it’s excellent for predicting weather conditions but because of its interface. However, Yahoo Weather is not that efficient in predicting weather conditions where I live. However, it has an excellent interface, displaying stunning pictures from Flickr of your current city or location in the background. The background updates frequently. Yahoo Weather also displays satellite pictures of your area if a storm is closing in. Another great thing about this app is that it shows the sunset and dawn timing. Yahoo Weather also shows a windmill on the interface. If the wind is strong, you will see the windmill blowing fast opposite the wind’s direction. So you can estimate the speed of wind and its direction.

Weather Underground
Weather Underground is a comprehensive app that checks weather conditions. It has everything related to each day’s weather conditions. It also displays a satellite image of your location. So you can see if clouds or storms are approaching. While traveling, you can monitor the weather conditions of other countries and cities. It predicts the weather of the following days, breaks down the day in hours, and shows the weather conditions for each hour.

Storm Shield
It’s a great app if you live in a place prone to storms. Although it’s not a basic weather app, it’s a crowdsourced app that tracks storms. Using Storm Shield, you can estimate how close you are to a storm- and lightning-strike-prone area. This app also updates you about the storm’s location and the time left to strike your area. Thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes, or floods: This app works for every hazard situation and condition.
